- Summary:
- "The contents of this issue are poetry and prose from Chiapan writers along with a serigraphed reprints of historic works on the region. One contribution reproduces holograph diary pages and another reproduces graffiti slogans from the walls of San Cristóbal. The book is illustrated throughout with serigraphs, many full page. As with many issues, there is a poem serigraphed inside a decorative border that runs along the bottom margin of one side of the accordion. The bellyband is tradititional Mayan huun paper. The covers are a stiff moulded paper with a three-dimensional pre-Columbian design. According to the colophon, "El papel del portada es de chi con resina de caucho pintado con achiote, brea y sangre de saraguato" (The paper for the covers is made from chi [possibly chia sage?] with Panama rubber resin painted with annato, pitch, and monkey blood). It is entirely possible that these words have colloquial meanings in Chiapas that elude your humble translator."
