- Begun in Argentina by Eloísa Cartonera, this project was named after the recycled cardboard bought from cartoneros (waste-paper collectors) that was cut, shaped, and individually hand painted and designed to make every copy unique. Cartoneras are characterized by their socio-cultural engagement of their editors, who seek independence from traditional editorial standards with regards to both the type of literature published and the artisanal format of their editions.
