"The box and papers inside it were made by Mayan women using pansy flowers and renewable fibers from the rainforest, such as banana trunks, pineneedles, oak leaves, ferns, corn husks, lichen, vines and palm fronds"--Colophon.
In portfolio (18 cm.).
Handmade book printed on fine paper made by Mayan women using pansy flowers, banana trunks and palm fronds. The pages are loose-leaf and kept in a box made of textured paper using the same renewable materials. Each page contains a line of text which were spoken by Chan K'In Viejo, patriarch of the Lacandon Maya until his death in 1996 at the age of 116. The materials used to make the book are in conversation with the content, which is a brief statement on the cosmic connection between the trees planted on Earth and the stars in the sky.
