Summary:

As its title suggests, it is a collection of forgotten tales narrated by the author, Suad Suleiman, so that the scenes take shape in our minds and thoughts, allowing us to feel every element of the story. Through a dialogue between a father and his daughter, we journey to old memories in the village of Al-Sawam'ah Gharb in the Tahta district of Upper Egypt. We explore the old family home through the stories of the novel's protagonist and her father, who in turn takes us to the grandfather's tales, a mixture of longing and fear for the poor villagers amidst the horrors of the raging war. The protagonist also recounts scenes of her and her family's forced departure from the family home to Alexandria after the old house nearly collapsed on its inhabitants, almost burying the witnesses to the story, along with the memories themselves, beneath its rubble. It is a novel which we traverse—as in the stories of its characters—old Upper Egypt, Alexandria, and the memories of the Faluja War in, whose impact extended beyond Israel to surrounding countries and regions. Countries that participated, whether through war or through the tears that were shed for those who were lost, and for what was lost.

هي ـ كما يشير عنوانها ـ حكايات منسيَّة ترويها الكاتبة (سعاد سليمان) لتتشكل المشاهد في عقولنا وخواطرنا حتى يغدو بإمكاننا الشعور بكل عناصر الحكاية. ننتقل من خلال الحوار بين أبٍ وابنته إلى الذكريات القديمة في قرية "الصوامعة غرب – مركز طحطا" بالصعيد. نجوب بيت العائلة القديم عبر حكايات بطلة الرواية وأبيها الذي يأخذنا بدوره إلى حكاوي الجد بين لوعة الاشتياق وخوف فقدان أبناء القرية الفقراء في أهوال الحرب المستعرة آنذاك. كما تذكر البطلة مشاهد من اضطرارها وعائلتها مغادرة بيت العائلة والتوجه إلى الإسكندرية بعدما كاد البيت القديم أن يتهدَّم على رؤوس من فيه؛ حيث كاد أن يدفن الشاهدين على الحكاية كما دفن الذكريات تحت حطامه. هي رواية نجوب فيها ـ كما في حكايات أبطالها ـ الصعيد القديم والإسكندرية وذكريات حرب الفالوجا التي تخطى وقع وقائعها فلسطين ليمتد أثرها إلى دول ومناطق محيطة؛ دول شاركت سواءً بالحرب أو بالدموع التي سالت على من فُقد، وعلى ما فُقد.
