- Summary:
- This book intends to promote and assist professionals to better understand the global burden of disease methodology. It introduces the GBD research thinking and work framework for most public health professionals and to systematically review the development history and characteristics of the GBD method. It focuses to what questions to be answered and how to answer in GBD study. For each topic, the representative literatures and works of GBD are introduced in the book, these representative literatures were selected by the authors on the basis of reading a large amount of the literature. Based on these representative literature, this book describes how GBD study uses a wide range of source of data sources to achieve its research goals. This way not only makes sure the accuracy of the introduced perspectives and methodology, but also provides a shortcut to the key GBD literature relevant to the topic for people who are unfamiliar with GBD study. As an introduction to the methodology of GBD study, this book interprets the basic methods of GBD study, and helps readers to further read the corresponding literature, understand the methodology and main findings of GBD study, and uses these methods in their own work. Taking China as a case, this book set a special chapter, to introduce the estimated results of on the disease burden of the Chinese population, and discuss the experience and lessons of GBD study in promoting national policy action.
