Summary:
The Kalash are an indigenous community residing in three valleys at the foothills of the Hindu Kush Mountain range in Pakistan. Their ancient polytheistic religion is filled with rituals centered on the worship of nature and they offer prayers during festivals that commemorate the changing seasons. Due to global warming monsoon currents have penetrated the Hindu Kush Mountain range, which was previously outside the monsoon belt. In 2015, devastating floods destroyed agricultural land, homes, and livelihoods in the Kalash valleys, threatening the very existence of Pakistan's smallest indigenous community. We document the annual harvest festival, which this summer was followed by the devastating floods that inundated much of Pakistan.
