- Summary:
- Tajikistan's high Pamir Mountains are sprinkled by a series of striking glacial lakes: Karakul, Zorkul, Burunkul, Yashiikul. They are Central Asia's water towers. But a changing climate and shrinking glaciers have threatened these azure waters and the people living in isolated villages where winter temperatures drop to -60°C. The scarcity of water is also threatening all of downstream Central Asia.
