Summary:

This book presents the history of Argentina from the 1880s, when the National Organization process culminated, to the crisis of December 2001, which ended the neoliberal cycle initiated during the terrorist dictatorship and continued in the presidencies of Carlos Saúl Menem and Fernando De la Rúa. It covers 120 years during which Argentine society underwent major political, economic, social and cultural transformations. The author analyzes these changes in an integrated manner, also relating them to major events in the rest of the world, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean. The book enriches this picture by presenting changes in customs and traditions, as well as in mass sports spectacles and mass media, which have been highly influential in recent decades.
