- Author Yunuen Esmeralda Díaz Velázquez (Mexico City, 1982) is a writer, poet, cultural manager and artist who has specialized in issues of gender, body, feminism, contemporary art, curatorship, visibility strategies, writing about art and creative criticism. The present book -with which the author won the Premio Nacional de Ensayo Joven José Vasconcelos in 2015- is a set of essays on portraiture, those made with a camera, or a mobile device, the kind of images that those undresses, hides, plays, shows, partializes, and that are intertwined by the almost hilarious sexual history of the bonobos (pygmy chimpanzee). The essays are of enormous lucidity, sharp, revealing, but above all of an urgent immersion in what is called pornography, its uses, its changes, what has upset society, the inevitability of the theatrical scene of porn, and post-porn. What was taboo yesterday is today shown without problems in exhibitions and art publications and circulate freely on the Internet.
