- Summary:
- This book celebrates fifteen years of the URBANA Public Art Program organized by the Centro Empresarial URBANA through a tour of the most outstanding interventions and exhibitions in the various spaces of the URBANA business center. The book not only documents, but also reflects on how art has transformed the experience of inhabiting a work environment. The proposals presented over the years have made the Public Art Program a benchmark for the integration of contemporary art and the corporate world. The Urbana program was born from the encounter and positive synergy between professionals from diverse disciplines with whom Dacil share the belief that living with art improves life. The initiative to bring art to unconventional spaces took shape in 2008, when, together with Luis Gonzalez Lanuza, we developed DACIL Off Gallery -a branch of the Dacil Art gallery- to explore and implement ways to bring art to unconventional or peripheral areas outside the traditional circuit. After various fulfilling experiences, we specialized in the corporate sector. In 2009, Dacil was introduced to the Urbana Business Center, an idealseti9ng for fostering encounters between art and the corporate world. His complex of buildings, featuring expansive and well-maintained common spaces, accommodates companies from various industries and a high volume of daily foot traffic, both permanent and occasional. After an open call to artist from Argentina to present intervention projects for Urbana's central plazas. A jury, composed of Clorindo Testa, Eva Grinstein, Adriana Laurenzi and Juan Doffo evaluated over twenty projects. The winning work was Nubemar (Gerardo Sirolli, 2011), a large sculptural and sonic work that continues to accompany the center's community.
