- The catalog brings together about 500 items, including photographs, films, documents and equipment, and reflects the artist's inclusive and collaborative trajectory, in the year of the centenary of birth of photographer Thomaz Farkas (b. Hungary 1924, lived and worked in Brazil since 1930 - d. Brazil 2011). Divided into axes, the exhibition explores the various facets of Farkas' life and work, from his early work with photography, his participation in the Foto Cine Clube Bandeirante, his first exhibition at the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo, in 1949, highlighting the documentary series "Brasil verdade" and "A condição brasileira" in the 1960s and 1970s (later projects that came to be called the Farkas Caravan), in addition to films such as "Todomundo" and "Subterrâneos do futebol", which reveal his welcoming and curious vision of the country he adopted as his home. The show seeks to recreate the collective and generous spirit of Farkas, present both in his artistic production and his performance as an entrepreneur and promoter of the cultural field, with the creation of the Galeria Fotoptica, in 1979, the first space dedicated to photography in Brazil.
