James Hunter Ewing (1798-1827) was a physician. He received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1821.

J. Hunter Ewing's matriculation and lecture admission cards, with his autograph, documenting education at University of Pennsylvania. Faculty members whose lectures Ewing attended include: Robert Hare on chemistry; John Redman Coxe on materia medica and pharmacy; Thomas C. James on midwifery; Philip Syng Physick on anatomy; William Gibson on surgery; and N. Chapman on clinical practice.
