Trata-se de uma análise do povo Canela tomando por eixo a polissemia dos discursos, das vivências e das práticas da sexualidade. A análise se foca na multiplicidade de aspectos relacionados à sexualidade humana, no que tange as produções sociais, simbólicas e imaginárias desta sociedade, em uma ótica de fazer emergir o sentido das relações entre homens e mulheres, suas tensões e transformações de seus papéis sociais. O material etnográfico foi colhido em nove meses de trabalho de campo, uma gestação humana na área indegena do povo Canela, pontualmente na aldeia Escalvado (a principal das aldeias do Território Canela). Nesta aldeia, instalei-me e permaneci a maior parte deste periodo, procurando observar o cotidaiano das relações entre homens e mulheres, destacando especialmente como estes atores representam e vivenciam a sexualidade, bem como representam um e outro sexo.-- Back cover.

This is an analysis of the Canela people taking as its axis the polysemy of discourses, experiences and practices of sexuality. The analysis focuses on the multiplicity of aspects related to human sexuality, regarding the social, symbolic and imaginary productions of this society, with a view to bringing out the meaning of relationships between men and women, their tensions and transformations in their social roles. The ethnographic material was collected in nine months of fieldwork, a human gestation in the indigenous area of the Canela people, specifically in the village of Escalvado (the main village in the Canela Territory). In this village, I settled and stayed for most of this period, trying to observe the everyday relationships between men and women, highlighting especially how these actors represent and experience sexuality, as well as how they represent one sex or the other.-- Back cover.
