In 1838, Mary S Gove "was invited to deliver a series of lectures to the newly organized ladies Psychological Society in Boston. One of the few women in the country with the requisite knowledge, Mary lectured on Sylvester Graham's dietary and hygiene reforms...as well as on female anatomy, physiology, pregnancy and parturition....Mary Gove was launched on a colourful career as a health reformer and physician."
