Summary:
Martin Bollati (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1986) is an editor, visual artist and teacher who is the founder and director of SED editorial. El mundo es un tubo is a book of hybrid genres (fables, stories, aphorisms) that explores a particular territory from which to reflect on our relationship with images. There is an island where plants, animals, minerals, flowers, and fresh air coexist with human beings, in freedom. Ghosts also roam the island. They persist in appearing, just as memories do. Each of these parts speaks its own language. The whole island tells its story, and I was fortunate enough to be there. The text presented is a compilation of some elemental conversations; fragments I believed I heard and that I now translate here. It also describes some curiosities of the island and ideas I had, inspired by that territory, which lies in the Atlantic Ocean, within language, and in our imagination. "The world is a tube in which at both ends are the moon and the sun. We are inside seeing how that tube rotates with all the images. But the world is not those images. The world is the inner walls of the tube. And in them extends the surface of images and of all events. A tube is a container that allows you to see. Any image, if we roll it up, gives us that access." --translated from page 61
