Summary:

As every two years (since 1980), the Bienal de Fotografía of the Centro de la Imagen convenes and presents an overview of the Mexican photographic medium. The 20th edition It groups twenty-five proposals into six thematic fields, which do not exclude or fragment, but propose a navigation route with crossings within a heterogeneous set. The title "No más mundos por conquistar" (No more worlds to conquer) proclaims two types of refutation. On the one hand, it portends a scenario in which all worlds have been exhausted, so that there is nothing left to take. On the other, it proposes the cancellation of the "conquest" as a way of (co)habiting our small planet. With minimal but forceful gestures, the works presented in this XX Bienal de Fotografía fluctuate between the two registers: a prolonged mourning sob and the murmur of a possible surprising future.
