- Summary:
- The exhibition rescues a historical moment of Mexican and Spanish art in the 20th century: the exile of Spanish artists to Mexico. Spanish artists brought to Mexico their formation of European academies and some others their revolutionary avant-garde tendencies, which they assimilated and inserted into the Mexican painting movement of the 20th century. Artists exhibited include Francisco Marco Chilet, Francisco Moreno Capdevila, Antonio Rodríguez Luna, Gerardo Lizárraga, Arturo Souto, José Bardasano, Roberto Fernández Balbuena and José García Narezo, and women artists like Elvira Gascón, Mary Martín Iglesias, Paloma Altolaguirre Méndez, Puri Yáñez and Lucinda Urrusti, who express in their works another vision of the exile. The title of the exhibition is taken "from the poem "Primavera en Eaton Hastings" by Pedro Garfias" --translated from page 11.
