Biography/History:
The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) is a civil rights organization, founded in 1957 following the Montgomery Bus Boycott victory in Alabama. The first president of SCLC was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929-1968).

Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) staff members and locations 3 page typed document, dated March 17, 1968; with 3 page typed list of SCLC subsistence staff, steering committee and executive staff committee, dated May 16, 1968. Annotations made in pen, in different inks. A number of names have been crossed out, including Martin Luther King, Jr. who was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Other notable names on the SCLC staff lists include Ralph David Abernathy (1926-1990), James Bevel (1936-2008), Septima P. Clark (1898-1987), Golden Frinks (1920-2004), Jesse L. Jackson (1941-), Annell Ponder (1932-2013), Hosea L. Williams (1926-2000), and Rev. Andrew J. Young (1932-).
