- Summary:
- Illuminated piyut recited preceding the Purim Megillah reading in the synagogue by the Jews of Kurdistan; manuscript copies of this piyut often survive as single-page, also often with illuminations and micrography (see: Lehmann, Manfred R. "Yedidim barekhu poʻel gevurot", in Sinai, number 98 (1985-1986), page 74-75). Written in an Oriental square script, with openings of stanzas written larger (ידידים, פדות, תחינת, בצאתכם, נברך, יאודים, הלא), in 37 lines; three lines of captions written in the framing around the piyut (Esther II:5-6, VIII:16, with לשנה הבאה בירושלים ע"ה following); architecture in black ink, with outer section crosshatched; illuminations inside architecture (two rows of hens and chickens, variating pattern, in reds, blues, and greys, at top and bottom; leaf patterns with oak and acanthus at sides and bottom of text; myrtle branches at upper center, white on a red background (myrtle was connected to Esther, whose Hebrew name was Hadasah; II:7).
