- Summary:
- The book analyzes the role of the survivors of the clandestine detention centers (CCD) based on the denunciation of the crimes of the last Argentine dictatorship. The proposal consists of transcending the exclusive association between this segment of the victims of repression and the figure of the witness to address the broader repertoire of practices that the survivors deployed as part of their activism in the field of human rights. To do this, the book focuses on a particular case, that of the people who survived captivity in the CCD El Vesubio, a clandestine detention space located in the district of La Matanza, in the west of the province of Buenos Aires. The investigation reconstructs the trajectory of complaints of this group of survivors from the last dictatorship to the present: the journey begins with the first judicial case related to the kidnappings in El Vesubio, initiated during the times of the Military Junta, and has as its arrival point the act of marking the former CCD property, on the eve of the fortieth anniversary of the coup d'état.
