"On that Saturday, October 7, 2023, Dror Mishani was in Toulouse, France, to promote his books there. When the news began to arrive, he packed his things and returned home, to Israel. Nothing prepared him for the storm that he and his family would go through in the days and weeks to come. Dror Mishani's diary, written during those days, reveals a new facet of his writing - personal, gothic, and very intimate writing: he opens a window into his world, brings the reader into his home, and does not hesitate to reveal his weaknesses and his struggles in the face of the terrible reality outside. He describes his struggles, as a simple citizen, a partner to a woman from outside Israel, and a parent who chooses to raise his children in Israel, alongside an attempt to write, create, and also understand the place of cultural figures and artists in times of great disruption.
