Summary:
In this interview, Dr. Tom King talks about the ongoing search for aviatrix Amelia Earhart, who disappeared on July 2, 1937, along with navigator Fred Noonan in the vast Pacific Ocean in her attempt to fly around the world. While Dr. King was in Eugene, Oregon, in May 2011, as Keynote Speaker for TAC Festival, ALI's Rick Pettigrew collared him to ask a few questions on camera about the Earhart Project organized by The International Group for Historic Aircraft Recovery (TIGHAR). TIGHAR has gathered evidence pointing to Nikumaroro as the place where Earhart and Noonan landed, were marooned and died. This interview was before the planned 2012 expedition to Nikumaroro. As you'll see, the case for the Nikumaroro Hypothesis is very strong. In Part 2 of the interview, Dr. King tells the story of Betty Klenk, who heard Earhart's distress call on her father's shortwave radio.
