"A biography of Rabbi Solomon Zelman ben Isaac, whom Ezekiel had met in the house of Elijah Wilna; the latter work, in two volumes, contains biographical data, various novellæ, and a chapter devoted to remonstrances against the neglect of the study of the Bible" -- JE 1906 ; see additional biography in: Maggid-Steinschneider, HN. ʻIr Vilna, p. 88-90.

The author was from Plonge [Palanga, Lithuania], and was known as the Maggid of Dretschen [he lived in Dzyarechyn, Belarus].

Approbations, first volume: the two Beth Dins of Vilnius ("יקר שהדותא" -- title page verso, and "הסכמה" -- f.2r); introduction by the author, followed by additional salutations from Yaʻaḳov Mosheh of Navahrudak, and Mosheh Rokeaḥ of Brody.
