Summary:
The Inuit of the Igloolik region have been hunting walrus-those incredibly large and sometimes dangerous animals - for thousands of years. In this episode of the "Hunting with My Ancestors" series, we see a band of contemporary Inuit hunters catching a walrus, and caching and fermenting its meat for the long winter ahead. We first follow director Zacharias Kunuk on this winter hunt, as the hunters venture out, via snowmobiles, to the edge of an ice floe, in search of walrus. We later see a more common summer walrus hunt, via boats.
