Summary:
Filmed by the U.S. Signal Corps and narrated by Ronald Reagan, this archival documentary reports on the construction of the Stilwell Road-originally The Ledo Road-a 478-mile passage from Assam, India, to Ledo, Burma, during World War II. This massive undertaking, by 63,000 workers and at a cost of 150 million as well as of many human lives, was a tribute to courage, determination and unique engineering. It would be utilized by the British, the Chinese and the Indian armies for the transport of vital war materiel-supplies, troops and other essentials-between India and China as part of a concerted allied effort to prevent Japanese Imperial troops from overrunning the China-Burma-Indian Theater.
