- Summary:
- Student, Rodion Raskolnikov murders an old landlady and her sister in hope to get away from his financial problems. However, his deed terrifies him. The investigation is closing down on him. He makes acquaintance with a young woman Sonya Marmeladova who is forced to work as a prostitute to make her ends meet. She convinces Rodion to confess. He is sentenced to punitive labor in Siberia. Sonya follows him there.
