Summary:
In the theoretical part, the publication deals with the place of humanities, cultural studies and literature theory in society; in the analytical part it shows social involvement and social reception of psalms treated as a prototype of the so-called engaged literature. In this book, I would like to show the reader that the idea of culture which I refer to is synonymous with the vision of committed, caring and emphatic nurture – these are very close categories of participation in life and its challenges. From the Introduction “There is no other study in Polish that would combine such disparate perspectives of the influence of the Reformation on the contemporary culture in its various aspects [...]. All deliberations have been set in a very broad historical, theological, philosophical, anthropological, literary and linguistic context. In a general sense, this is a well-thought-out interdisciplinary study focused on the cultural dimension of the Reformation." From the review by prof. dr hab. Sławomir Jacek Żurek (KUL)
