- Summary:
- Illness, at times, is a refuge for beauty. Ingrid Bringas reflects this in this series of poems that is also a dissection of the grief of a generation that wants to be immortal, that wants to be forever young, that refuses to find in the rotting of bodies a reason for contemplation. The texts that inhabit No haber nacido animal are one of my secret nostalgias, they are an invitation to “listen to one’s viscera” and to understand that “death inhabits us like a house.” In this collection of poems, the skin becomes a petal, the vein becomes a branch and the thighs become plains where the bison stampede. While the end arrives, the author reminds us that we are all part of the same whole that lives and dies eternally.
