- This book responds to the interest of bringing together studies on the importance of the image in the construction of identities, representations and communities; problematizes the weight of the nation-state in the elaboration of these. The authors take as their axis the careful analysis of the way in which painting, cinema, press graphics and photography configure identity narratives. The circulation of these images makes it possible to build bridges between regions and ponder whether there are convergences in the visual languages developed. The origin of the authors allows us to have a broad panorama that covers the history of nationalist representations from the nineteenth century to the end of the twentieth century and in various geographical areas such as Mexico, Brazil, Spain and France. Thus, this work is a historiographical contribution that will allow us to elaborate new readings on old images.
