- Chandra Sekhar Rout is a Full Professor at the Centre for Nano & Material Sciences (CNMS) at Jain University in India. He received his PhD from JNCASR, Bangalore, in 2008. He conducted his postdoctoral research at the National University of Singapore, Purdue University, and UNIST, South Korea. He was awarded the prestigious Ramanujan Fellowship and Young Scientist Award of the Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India, in 2013, the Emerging Investigator Award 2017 from Elsevier, the IAAM Medal 2017 from the International Association of Advanced Materials 2017, and the young researcher award from Venus International Foundation in 2015. Professor Rout has authored over 200 research papers in international journals and edited four books with an h-index of 57 and total citations >13,600. Stanford ranked him in the top 2% of scientists in India in 2020-2023.
- Summary:
- Electrochemical techniques are appealing for the detection of pollutants due to their instrumental simplicity, rapid response, ease of use and cost-effectiveness. More importantly, they provide real-time reliable information about the chemical composition of the surrounding environment. This reference text provides a comprehensive overview of the various voltammetric methods employed in the development of electrochemical interfaces as sensors for the detection of agricultural pollutants. The book covers the fabrication of electrochemical sensors using numerous functional materials and will introduce the fundamentals of electrochemical sensing technology, analytical methodologies and reliable procedures for modifying sensor regimes for selective and trace analysis of agricultural contaminants. The book explores emerging agricultural environmental pollutants, and will discuss the impact of these pollutants on public health, the occurrence of the pollutants in the environment, and how their physiochemical properties can be examined using electrochemical techniques.
