The Mbuti (Bambuti, pl.) in a general sense are the Pygmies of the Ituri forest in Democratic Republic of the Congo and consist of four subgroups; the Aka, Efe, Mbuti, and Sua. This file on the Mbuti consists of 6 documents with coverage from 1930 to ca. 1975. The file is restricted in its coverage to the Pygmies of the southern and central Ituri forest who are associated with the Babira villagers. The literature contained in the Mbuti file is almost all by Colin Turnbull, whose fieldwork spanned the period from ca. 1950 through 1973.
