- Biography/History:
- Lincrusta, a linoleum-like wall covering, was invented by Frederick Walton in England in 1877 and introduced to the U.S. market in the 1880's. Its rival Anaglypta, a paper-based embossed wall covering product, was developed in 1887 by Thomas J. Palmer, a former manager of Walton's London showroom. Wall Paper Manufacturers Ltd. acquired Anaglypta, Frederick Walton & Company, and other independent wall covering manufacturers in the early 1900's.
