- Summary:
- Transcripts of daily radio news bulletins from the BBC, spanning 1937-1955. These bulletins cover major national and global events in politics, international relations, culture, technology, sports, health, and more. The archive consists of daily radio bulletin transcripts from the BBC that provide an overview of unfolding local and global news events. News stories, across six daily broadcasts, show revisions and annotations throughout the day to reflect the latest breaking news developments, changes in reporting tone, and emphasis of a story, shedding light on the inner workings of newsrooms and the process of news dissemination. In total the archive contains 169,000 news bulletins and over 2.8 million script pages; it constitutes a trove of material for researchers exploring and interpreting 20th-century history, culture, society, and news media. In addition to the transcript page images, separate metadata records are available for every individual news story within a bulletin, to maximize the searchability and discoverability of this material. As well as being able to search by the title (heading) and full text of a news story, users may limit their results not only by date, but also by time of broadcast
