- Summary:
- A diary, apparently kept by an English or American male artist in Japan, 1877-78. The first entry, 25 May 1877, describes in detail a dinner with Prince Kuroda in Yeddo (Tokyo). A 10-page undated entry describes an excursion to towns southwest of Tokyo, including Atami. The third and last entry is dated 1 Jan 1878 and mentions the interest of the Japanese people in the author's painting efforts.
