Summary:
Twenty-six letters written by the brothers William, Samuel, Henry, and Seneca to their father, Captain Daniel Weston, in Bremen, Maine. William's letters mainly deal with family concerns, such as financial difficulties and health status; they also mention conditions in San Francisco, including business prospects, the fires of 1851, and efforts to establish law and order in the city. Letters from the other brothers describe the voyage to San Francisco from Boston, via the West Indies, including the yellow fever epidemic which claimed the life of Seneca Weston in St Thomas. Includes a few letters to other family members and an 1850 draft for 1,000 dollars sent by William to his father.
