Schimmel Collection copy extra-illustrated with 44 illustrations mounted on 26 inserted leaves. Twenty-two are engravings (of which four are signed: H. Adlard sc.); nine have printed descriptive captions and 15 have manuscript captions relating them to the text (3 in addition to a printed caption). The remaining 22 illustrations are ink drawings; six have manuscript captions. Two manuscript leaves ([3] pages) with a table of contents for 27 of the illustrations (itself illustrated with an ink sketch vignette on page [1]) are inserted after the preface.
