Summary:

The chicha aesthetic is a manifestation of Peruvian popular art where design and painting are mixed equally, along with the rhythm of Andean psychedelic cumbia. It is also the expression of the cholo, of the Peruvian of the people, of the "chicha", with their incandescent colors, their slang, music, gastronomy and experiences. The first cultivators of the "chicha" expressions were anonymous designers who freely selected structures, compositions and colors of the Andean tradition, initially translated into the clothing of the musical groups that performed in Lima, or lived in the capital for some time. As a result of these practices, public art experts translated their presentations into banners and posters, murals and flyers, including mass transportation vehicles, specifically to publicize the events and highlight the cultists of the music that was called "chicha". Sociologist Arturo Quispe Lázaro presents a serious look from the history of art perspective, analyzing the graphic products related to the so-called "chicha aesthetics", based on its formal elements; its aesthetic intention and its objective of summoning the viewer to share musical meetings of regional complicity.
