Summary:
Author Carlos Troncoso Matto (Lima 1959) is an artist and teacher widely known both for his own work and for rescuing through engraving the works by great Peruvian artists who seek a greater dissemination of their work. For these purposes, in 1997 he founded the Llavenelojo workshop that has carried out fruitful work in the local environment. He was an activist in the movida subte of the 80s in Lima, integrating various cultural and artistic collectives. In his photographic images of Pixelandia, the color and imagery of Billboards ads and the aggressive, sarcastic traces of graffiti come into dialogue. The advertising panels reflect much of the local idiosyncrasy: illusory visual representations of eroticism and the desire for goods embedded in the urban fabric of the city: hills, dunes, rubble, facades, brick and cement constructions. "The photos presented here were taken in the city of Lima, between 2007 and 2023." --translated from page 79.
