- Summary:
- Conceptual artist Maria Amalia "Maya" García Miró (Lima, 1970) works indistinctly in different formats and materials (such as cement, plasters, safety pins, pieces of pottery, coffee beans, buttons, pencils, jigsaw puzzle pieces and recycled miscellaneous objects to mention a few). This anthological exhibition, held under the curatorship of Gustavo Buntinx, reviews 30 years of her artistic career with works in painting, sculpture, collages and drawing that the artist has created since 1997. Her artwork invites its viewers to reflect on gender issues and on the poetics of the illusory and the imaginary, proposing this dimension of the work as an authentic rebellion that reveals the duality of being.
