- Summary:
- Collection of fifty poems in a single hand attributed to John Fountain (d. 1663), transcribed ca.1720. Poems are on pages numbered 1-161, but two pages between pp.61-62 are unnumbered in error. Preceded by title page (p.[iii]) and transcriber's note 'To my very worthy kinsman Master T.H.' (pp.[v]-[x]), giving biographical details of Fountain). Poem on pp.157-8 stated not to be Fountain's, as may be true of some others, as Wither's 'The careless lover' (pp.158-9) is called Fountain's

- Ownership inscription of George Newell, 1721, on title-page and related note inside back cover. John Fountain was the author of the comedy "The Rewards of Vertue" (1661). He was born in Devon and educated at Oxford University. After travelling abroad he settled in Barnstable, but died young
