- Summary:
- In 1950, at the age of 82, Dr. Walter Lowrie, who had become well-known for his translations and biographies of Kierkegaard, wrote an autobiography. It was never published. It has been a part of the extensive Walter Lowrie Papers at Princeton University since his death in 1959. Walter Lowrie had a long career at an Episcopal clergyman and scholar. He wrote about the Early Church, about ancient Christian art, and was one of the first translators of Albert Schweitzer. Besides his 1938 biography Kierkegaard, and his 1942 A Short Life of Kierkegaard, Walter Lowrie published twelve volumes of Kierkegaard translations through Oxford and Princeton University Presses
