- Summary:
- In Casas Cariocas de Lucio Costa, the authors, through an efficient methodology, address bioclimatic, the various concepts of comfort, functional sectorization and also the critical analysis of the specific reading of each room, in short, the manifestation of light in Architecture. The authors achieve their methodological objective because they ratify the historical integrity of Lucio Costa in the temporal leap from the first period of the houses of the 1920s and 1930s to the second period of the houses of the 1970s and 1980s. Lucio Costa permeates the neo-colonial, modern and post-modern aesthetic movements. In his brilliant projects, functionality, the greatest legacy of modern Architecture, and vernacular semiotics, the main clue of post-modern Architecture, walk harmoniously together. "The book is organized into four chapters, each one being destined for one of the four houses studied, in addition to the introduction, which briefly reveals the trajectory and importance of the protagonist - the architect Lucio Costa. Also in this introduction, the reader will be taken to an incursion into the neighborhoods where the houses are located, in order to contextualize the urban evolution and the climatic conditions predominantly found." --translated from Page 21.
