- Summary:
- Welcome to the second opera in Puccini's famous Il trittico (“The Triptych”) trio: Suor Angelica. A cast of impeccable quality eagerly awaits at Florence's Maggio Musicale, with the resplendent María José Siri in the title role and Anna Maria Chiuri as the overbearing princess. The plot opens with a sublime chorus evoking Sister Angelica’s tranquil life in the convent. The sisters rejoice as one of three magical evenings in the year draws closer, when the sunlight seems to turn the fountain’s water to gold. But this peaceful spell is broken by a mysterious visitor: the princess. As her presence becomes increasingly intrusive to the nuns, the secrets of Angelica’s past are in danger of being revealed… Photo © Michele Monasta.
