- Summary:
- "In 1968, sculptor Fred Sandback (1943-2003) mounted an exhibition at Heiner Friedrich's Munich gallery of works tracing planes and volumes in space with elastic cords and acrylic yarn; it was the start of a long-term relationship that extended to Dia Art Foundation. Essayists Lynne Cooke, Julian Rose, Corinna Thierolf and Edward A. Vazquez, as well as conversation partners Matilde Guidelli-Guidi and Curtis Harvey, explore aspects of this interaction through archival documents, sketches, and photographs related to the Fred Sandback Museum in Winchendon, Massachusetts, as well as Dia Art Foundation's spaces in New York City and Dia Beacon, New York."-- Page 4 of cover.
