- Summary:
- A stunning collection of murals that appeared in the Twin Cities in 2020. Art and Artifact: Murals from the Minneapolis Uprising features one hundred full-page, full-color images of murals that appeared across the Twin Cities following the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis Police on May 25, 2020. The murals in this volume were collected by Leesa Kelly and are archived by Memorialize the Movement, the grass- roots organization she founded and leads as its executive director. This volume includes critical essays that document the collection and care of the murals, providing historical context and locating the archive within a larger national effort to preserve the art and artifacts of the 2020 protests for racial justice that began in Minneapolis then spread across the country and around the world.
