Summary:
Every year since 1956, the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg has invited music lovers to celebrate the January 27 birthday of their city's most famous native: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Mozartwoche (Mozart Week) regularly welcomes a host of renowned Mozart specialists to pay homage to this titanic figure of classical music, and in 2023 we are delighted to broadcast the opening festivities with an all-star lineup including tenor Rolando Villazón! Conductor Ivor Bolton, who was the chief conductor of the Mozarteum Orchestra for over a decade, returns to lead the prestigious ensemble alongside Salzburg native Rafael Fingerlos, the acclaimed baritone, and rising violin star Clarissa Bevilacqua. The gorgeously curated selection of Mozart works includes the sprightly Divertimento in B-flat Major, K. 137, the stately and invigorating Serenade No. 6 for Orchestra (Serenata notturna), the sweet and lilting Adagio in E Major (one of just a handful of works Mozart composed in this key), excerpts from La clemenza di Tito and Zaide, and the soulful "Haffner" Symphony No. 35, originally intended as a serenade but destined to become one of Mozart's most beloved symphonies. This is just one of over a thousand thrilling concerts available on medici.tv, the web's leading classical music streaming platform!.
