- Summary:
- "Two groups of women came together across culture, time, and geographical distance to create this engaging collection of nonfiction essays. Ten Ugandan writers interviewed ten American women, and vice versa, each producing a narrative work reflecting their conversations. Working on this project during the COVID-19 pandemic limited physical contact engagement between the groups and yet the challenges intensified relationship-building in a period of general isolation, hardship, and struggle. This collaboration began in December 2019 between representatives of FEMRITE, a Ugandan Women's Writers Association and the Sacramento-based Women's Wisdom Art (WWA) participating in a cultural exchange program... A U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on the theme of 'Writing for Social Change' brought women from FEMRITE to the United States to meet with American writers across the country."--Foreword.
