Summary:
The collection of photographs of naked torsos, open mouths and pubic hair, wet in blood, semen, and sweat in this book categorizes Patricio Maldonado's work as queer and erotic art. "Sanctuary is a refuge against all catechism. The only thing forbidden is not to expose the body, not to let it see through it. The repertoire of Patricio Maldonado (Monterrey, México 1995) that collects this archive, more than a photographic collection, is an exercise in baking or alchemy: "The fluids that I once feared become part of me; I mud them in the bodies, I turn them into pastel," says the artist. A mollusc cream, between milk and semen; a carmine mud, between blood and sauce; a porous molasses, between fat and bitumen. The images crave other modes of touch and conjure up other ways of kissing." --transated from page [4].
