A petition addressed to King George II vindicating his conduct in the recent campaign in Germany, and requesting that he should be allowed to retire as Commander-in-Chief without any mark of royal displeasure.
Original MS. dated September 4th, 1743 (Annals and correspondence of the .. Earls of Stair by John Murray Graham', Edinburgh and London, 1875).
This edition, without a title page, has "(Price three-pence.)" at the foot of p. 1. Another edition, with a title page, has "(Price three-pence.)" at the foot of the title page and nothing at the foot of p. 1.
