- At least three states noted. The first (Evans 34583) has 254 p. only. Page 69 is misnumbered 66, and a proposal to publish an edition of Southey's Poems appears at the foot of p. 254. A second state (Evans 34584) has 264 p. Pages [255]-264 contain a catalogue of books sold by Joseph Nancrede; this state is otherwise identical with Evans 34583. A third state (Evans 34585) has 270 p. Page 69 is correctly numbered, but p. 253-270 are misnumbered 153-170. Gathering X (p. 253-264) has been reset and 3 leaves (gathering [Y]) have been appended to accomodate the addition before the catalogue of a list of subscribers and an expanded proposal for publishing Southey's Poems. The original proposal has been removed from p. 254. Evans records a fourth state (Evans 34586) similar to the one just described but with p. 253-254 correctly numbered. This state is reported by Shipton & Mooney to be a ghost of Evans 34585.
